RADUNO FERRARI - lYON mUSEUM

jULY 13, 2019

Enzo Ferrari was an enthralled aviation enthusiast — so much so that the famed Ferrari “prancing horse” logo can find its’ origin in aviation history.

To have a Ferrari exhibition at an aviation museum is arguably one of the most historically correct ways to honor the man and the marque. For the 1st known time a famed aviation museum is exclusively integrating historic Ferraris into its established aviation displays. The historical combination of vintage Ferraris, alongside vintage warbirds, makes for a stunning visual experience for museum visitors.

This summer, the Lyon Air Museum has no fewer than 12 notable, awarded (and valuable!) Ferraris spanning the last 6 decades nested underneath the wings of a C-47, B-25, A-26, B-17 and a DC-3. This two-month exhibit (July 1-Sept 2) is titled “Celebrazione Ferrari” and includes some of the most famous Ferraris in the world, including:
·       1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta
·       1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Pinin Farina Series I
·       1955 Ferrari 250 Europa GT (winner Ville d’Este Concours d’Elegance!)
·       1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Scaglietti Series II
·       1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Berlinetta Scaglietti “Short Nose”
·       1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”
·       1974 Dino 246 GTS
·       1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole
·       1990 FerrariTestarossa
·       1992 Ferrari F40
·       2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina
·       2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta

In addition to, and coinciding with, “Celebrazione Ferrari” the Museum is hosting a special, one day, “Raduno Ferrari” event on Saturday, July 13th. In conjunction with the Ferrari Club of America and Optima Batteries, Ferraris from all over Southern California will be converging on the Lyon Air Museum grounds to celebrate the Modena Marque. A special technical exhibit and presentation on Ferrari battery maintenance and optimization will be provided by Optima.

The assemblage of Ferrari outside the museum along with those inside the museum should make for an event that Enzo himself would find very much to his liking.

For automotive and aviation enthusiasts, the Lyon Air Museum is definitely a destination spot for your summer plans!
